NHS Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is inviting patients and members of the public to attend a virtual event to hear about increased access to local GP services.

This is the final event of the CCG's 'Times are Changing' roadshow, which saw NHS leaders in Wolverhampton visiting the Wulfrun Centre, Sainsbury's St Marks and the Mander Centre earlier in the year. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the final event had to be postponed and is now taking place online. The free event will be hosted on the Microsoft Teams platform on Tuesday 15 September between 6-7pm. The session can be accessed via a tablet, smartphone or computer and no registration is needed.

The online event will be used to let Wolverhampton residents know the ways they can access their GP services. Not every GP appointment needs to be face to face with a doctor. The CCG will explain the large number of roles that patients can access from physician associates to practice nurses. With GP services working to return to normal after the coronavirus pandemic, it is important that people in the city know about the different ways they can get an appointment.

Sarah Southall, Head of Primary Care at Wolverhampton CCG said, "Over the past few years we have made great strides in improving access to GP appointments for our residents. While we are pleased with the uptake of our extended access appointments, we want to spread the message further to ensure our patients know that they can access an appointment at a time more convenient to them. The tour has been really successful in sharing this message and we hope to engage with more people at our online event."

The virtual event will also explore new ways of seeing a GP – such as through telephone appointments and video consultations. The event will also provide an opportunity to launch the CCG's new extended access animation, which can be viewed here:
