Members of the public are invited to attend NHS Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 18 September 2019.
The AGM will be taking place at The Hayward Suite, Billy Wright Stand, The Molineux Stadium, Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 4QR at 12.30pm.
The event will include a performance from the Flu Fighters, who have been sent on a mission to increase the number of children who receive their free nasal spray.
The Flu Fighters were successful in their quest last year; the Flu Fighters campaign – devised by the City of Wolverhampton Council, Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust – helped bring about a 13% increase in the number of children who received their free nasal spray in 2018.
As part of the campaign, a colourful storybook ‘Flu Fighters Versus Chilly, Achy and Snotty’ was distributed to thousands of pupils across the city, and helped ensure over 3,000 more children received the vaccination last winter, compared to the year before.
Gazebo Theatre will bring the storybook to life at the AGM and will tell the story of three slimy alien invaders from the Planet Bogey who came to Earth "to spread disease and make Wolverhampton's children cough, splutter and sneeze".
Dr Salma Reehana, Chair of NHS Wolverhampton CCG said,
“The Flu Fighters campaign has really helped raise awareness amongst children and parents leading to an extremely good response within the city for vaccination programmes.
The performance will convey an important message of ensuring children in Wolverhampton are appropriately protected, by getting the vaccine, in a fun and interactive way.”
